Information sheets

The documents gathered on this page set out in writing the explanations given during your consultation. They describe how a procedure unfolds, the care to carry out at home, and the signs that should prompt you to contact the clinic. We encourage you to read them before your appointment or surgery, and again afterwards: it is normal not to retain everything said in a consultation.

Before a procedure

Always report the medications you take, particularly anticoagulants and antiplatelet agents, as well as natural health products, since these can affect bleeding. Mention your allergies and any previous reaction to anaesthesia. Fasting instructions, when a general anaesthetic is planned, are provided with your appointment notice and must be followed exactly — otherwise the procedure has to be postponed.

After a procedure

Pain, slight bleeding and low energy in the first few days are expected. What is not expected: heavy bleeding or bleeding that will not stop, a high fever, pain that increases rather than settles, or difficulty breathing or swallowing fluids. In those situations, contact the clinic during opening hours, or go to the emergency department outside them.
